STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- They're faster than many of the fastest cars on the road, at just a fraction of the price, with a sleek design that screams attitude and power.

And they've been at the heart of nearly all of the summer's bad motorcycle wrecks.

Four of the five motorcyclists who died in crashes on Staten Island this summer were in the saddles of high-powered "sport bikes."
