DURANGO, Colo.
Durango police are patrolling on motorcycles for the first time in two decades. Two Harley-Davidson Electra Glides equipped with lights and sirens were activated last week. Two officers underwent special training in motorcycle tactics and operations. City officials say the motorcycles are more maneuverable and harder to detect than squad cars, but are more susceptible to weather and can't be used during rain or snow.
