Alongside his eight grandchildren and their spouses, 88-year-old Fred Darche rode his yellow Motor Trike Conversion past hundreds of spectators lining Main Street on Saturday morning.
His three-wheeler dwarfed the thousands of other motorcycles that thundered through town as part of the parade heralding the 2009 Budweiser Grand Nationals Rally.
"I did look forward to doing it," said the Peoria native, who has ridden motorcycles his whole life. "Just to prove that I can still do it, I guess. I'm pretty lucky."
