Helmet laws not key to cutting fatalities, governor says
Gov. Mitch Daniels strapped on his own helmet as he hopped on his Harley and rode out of town with nearly 500 other motorcyclists Friday.
But even after he spoke before getting on his bike about the increase in motorcycle fatalities, he wouldn't endorse requiring all bikers to wear helmets.
Good thing, perhaps, since many of those other motorcyclists -- mostly members of ABATE (American Bikers Aimed Toward Education) -- were riding helmet-less, their hair or bandanas blowing in the wind.
