Default 10 Legendary Motorcycle Rides

France may have its vineyards, and Rome its ancient ruins, but America is the undisputed wonderland of roads. Here in the Land of the Free, the open road has long been a symbol of independence, and all the more so on a motorcycle.

But where to begin?

Allright - checklist time. How many have you done? Cut and past the list and add your answer beside it. (did I just pull a "facebook"??? lol)

1. Going to the Sun road - NO

2. Tail of the Dragon - YES - twice

3. Glenn highway - NO

4. Big Sur Rt. 1 - YES - 4 times

5. Cherehola Skyway - YES

6. San Juan Skyway - YES

7. Palomar Mountain - YES

8. Yellowstone Highway - NO

9. High Plains Cruise - YES - but it wasn't anything spectacular - just better than 70 - would NEVER make my top 10

10. Key West Hwy. - NO

If the list is missing Hwy 170 from Terlingua to Presidio Texas it ain't a good list. I have ridden many of those (yes I will detail my response later) and Hwy 170 is still my favorite I think.

I don't see Blue Ridge Parkway the best of the best. I don't see anything in the Northeast and there are some beautiful rides there.

I've riden 0 of those on that list, but I'm sure to be the only one to drive the Dragon at night in an 18-wheeler ops: Bad short cut, but back in the early 80's the roads weren't marked 'No Trucks"

There are some GREAT roads in Ohio and the entire Blue ridge is awesome if you aren't there after the leaves fall - little dangerous...lol

So far my favorite of all time is the San Juan in Colorado - awesome roads and very little traffic
