The money is not the issue and yes keeping one safe, very good. It will probably work great for you, I have a different way of knowing.

The point I have tried to convey that no one wants to admit is that both devices are only telling you that your voltage is low, period. Nothing more nothing less. Could be your charging sytem or it could be something else.

Perhaps you should go back and re-read all of that website or are your eyes closed.

I agree with you, however the one Fubar posted about will tell you when it starts getting low because the charging system has quit. The one you posted about will only tell you after it is low, and when you stop and hook it in to the system. As Fubar said, his will allow someone to get to help before the battery is to dead to power the ign. and making the bike stop in it's tracks. That is obviously why all cages either have a "Red light" or a "Red light and a voltage gauge" on them, to warn people to go and get help before it quits in the middle of the road.

BTW, on the late model EFI Harley's, the engine lamp will come on when the charging system has a problem. My bike had a regulator go bad last weekend and the engine light came on. I immediately came home, and replaced the regulator. The light went out when the charging system went back to work. The carbed bikes do not have this feature.

Thanks for the insight into electrical systems and for showing me what I know the people on this site are made of. Hats off to both of you. Now have another beer and call it good. I really do appreciate the discussion on this thread. Some folks can benifit from the knowledge you guys have and it may save them some grief down the road.

well i read all of this and ended up disappointed ,fine while some might find the L.E.D. to be of help, others might just want the other modal that was mentioned , and to tell the truth there are a lot of folks out there that would not get any help from aether , i prefer to carry a cheap V.T.O.M. around 10.00 at most stores and it will tell me a hell of lot more then aether of the other 2 gages will , and i sure as hell would have liked to seen this go toward easy fix tips on the side of the road , witch i feel would help members more, anyone that rode dragon tail with me when ruffs bike took a shit in the middle of now where, can tell you how fast i got him running , and yes i did warn him that morning, that i thought his battery was low ..
