Default Air compressor recommendations?

With tires being the most often overlooked maintenance item, I'm going to bite the bullet and by an air compressor. I have a 12 volt one I use when I go four wheeling, but I need a bigger one for around the house.

I've been trying to justify a large one, but for now, I have to go portable. No room to install a floor mounted system.

What do you guys think of this one?

Brute by Briggs and Straton

Wal-mart special for $187 with the tool kit. Figure I can't really go wrong, even if it doesn't last that long.

Not a bad price for all of that, if you do buy it then get the two sets of impact sockets to MM & Standard from the tool section. They are Stanley in the yellow containers, best deal you will find on impact sockets anywhere and they last.

That would be fine for your tires, for impact socket use, you know you won't have much duration, you know, you'll use it once then it has to compress again for a few minutes then go again...all in all it's a good buy

for your light duty work , it is all you will need and at a good price , you can always add a larger storage tank down the road if needed

If you are planning on using it with air tools you should add an in line air lubricator and filter. Have two nozzles coming off of it after the filter, one for oiled air and one for clean air. This extends the life of your tools.

Ah! I was wondering how that would work! Didn't think about putting a splitter on it.

Went ahead and purchased it. Not too bad of a little compressor.

Cool deal Mungo, just remember to be patient when using air tools with it. IF you are using them on the bike though you shouldn't have too much time to wait. I had a 15 gal one I used when working on my Jeep and I would have to wait about 2-3 minutes between heavy uses of the impact gun. Thats why Dad and I bought the 60 gal 5HP ones, no down time to wait.
