After over 6 months of interviews we hired a 2nd sys admin.
Now he's decided he misses Dallas and the big city life and is headed back. Anyone know of someone with Solaris 9 & 10 experience looking for work that wants to move to Austin? K |

Although I hold certs in LINUX, and various MS NOS's, I still get some pretty funny looks from the youger guys when I start talking about all the UNIX stuff I've done in the past. To bad, although LINUX comes pretty close, IMHO, UNIX is still the most stable platform for a high volume server OS. I guess the days of command line navigation are fast going the way of the Doe Doe Bird.
Which reminds me, just saw a commercial on the tele the other day where HP has a work station that uses a touch screen OS very similiar to Apple's iPhone/iTouch. So I suppose I'll have to do a better job of cleaning the 50W off my hands in the future before I go to work. |

Austin should be full of AIX propeller heads that can easily make the conversion to Solaris given the depth of their skills and knowledge. Austin is and has been forever the home of AIX development. You may want to say consider some of those and allow cross education. I have seen some sharp guys make a contribution rather quickly on the other side AIX to Solaris and vice-versa. In my account they usually settle in one way or the other but many have went back and forth with relative ease.
My 2 cents and worth what you paid. I could ask some people but the first questions would be moving allowance? and pay range? A lot of cutting going on these days. Should be an ample supply if a good paying standard Admin job, I would think. |
