Maxtor was one of the largest hard drive manufacturers in the world until they were gobbled up by Seagate. Maxtor are a very low end drive, which is why you typically see them in Dells, which have a huge failure rate themselves.

Western Digital equipped devices are much more preferable. Seagate were decent for a long time, but they have added firmware to their drives, which make them incompatible with certain versions of some operating systems.

I did not realize seagate bought maxtor. That explains a lot lol. We don't like seagate . Thanks Chris for the info we appreciate it.
