Does anyone have any idea why when I try to convert song files that I have in my i-tunes library to mp3 format they will not convert? Most of the songs have been downloaded from the web and imported to i-tunes. I think I have followed the directions proper, it even seems to be trying to convert but does not actually convert.
I want to burn these files to mp3 CD's to use in my Ultra CD player. Any help would be appreciated BP |

Welcome to the world of DRM. As soon as you imported them into iTunes the files were modified for "digital rights management", which means they cannot be reproduced easily. DRM is a scourge.

Hey BPU,
Have the same issue. There is a setting in iTunes to rip the files as mp3. I have that one turned on. Most of mine that I have "aquired" have been aquired through usenet news, and were all mp3 format. The ones I rip, I have to make certain they stay MP3. |

you might be able to edit the copyright info on each song to let you convert them to burn on cd, i have read somewhere that you can burn the imported songs in itunes to a cd
this converter works wonders also BP --> Audio converter |

Most of mine have been "acquired" threw Limewire. I wouldn't have thought that there would be any protection of any kind. Does i-tunes do that automatically?
Thanks Squirrel I'll give that a try. BP |

BP, when you get the file downloaded, rt click on it, select properties, take the copyright stuff out of the properties window, close it and it should work. Then you can do what you want to with it. I also use this to be able to put different ones on different alblums.
